Older people rang in the New Year in style at Anchor's luxurious new care home in Southampton with a glittering gala dinner.
Residents at Mayflower Court care home on Westwood Road were joined by family and friends on Thursday night for a five-course meal and entertainment from singer Cosmic Sparkle.
Tenants from Anchor’s nearby Guardian Court retirement housing scheme even popped over the road to join them for champagne and celebrations.
Joe Patterson, home manager at Anchor’s Mayflower Court, said: “You might not think New Year’s Eve in a care home would be a glamorous affair, but we pulled out all the stops to make it a really special event.
“We know our residents have led really interesting lives and rung in the New Year in all sorts of incredible places, so we didn’t want this to be any different. Everyone enjoyed a five-course, five-star meal and a good singalong.”
Mayflower Court is part of Anchor, England’s largest not-for-profit provider of housing and care for older people. The home provides 24 hour care and support for older people and specialist dementia care for those who require it.
