Silver Court care home in East Grinstead will be helping to raise awareness of dementia on Monday 20 March by holding an event as part of World Rocks against Dementia.
Silver Court in Halsford Lane will be one of the many Anchor care homes up and down the country who will be hosting their own musical events to mark the special occasion.
Jane Baxter Home Manager at Silver Court, said: “We’re so pleased to be hosting this event as part of World Rocks against Dementia.
“We’re hosting a musical extravaganza including a live singer, refreshments and lots of fun activities for all. Also take the opportunity to view our newly acquired music and sensory room. Staff and residents are really looking forward to being able to do this for a good cause.”
Freda Greenhalgh, resident of Silver Court, echoed Jane Baxter’s, enthusiasm: “There are always lots of interesting activities here at Silver Court. By having this musical themed event, we get to raise awareness of a really important issue and have fun at the same time!”
World Rocks against Dementia, a worldwide event raising awareness of dementia celebrated in 16 countries, was started by Norman McNamara last year. ‘Norm’, who is living with dementia, also established the Purple Angels movement in the UK to help people better understand the condition, with the aim of making the world a more ‘dementia friendly’ place.
