Selkirk House care home in Plymstock have been celebrating winning two Plymouth People’s Choice Awards this week.
The awards celebrate the work of Plymouth's care workers, showcasing the best care provided in the city.
The team at Selkirk House were very proud to be awarded a prize for The Innovation and Good Practice for Community Links category, while Home Manager, Michelle Amesbury, was also awarded a prize in the catergory for The Leadership Programme for Registered Managers.
James Kazer, Hospitality Manager at Selkirk House said: "We here at Selkirk House are very pleased to have received the award For Innovation and Good Practice in Community Links as we include the community whenever and wherever possible in our home. The community is a fundamental part in the running of Selkirk House and we appreciate their continued support."
Around 175 people attended the 'Celebrating Excellence in Care: Plymouth 2016' event, which was held at the New Continental Hotel on 14 May 2016.
Awards were handed out to care workers by a range of local dignitaries, including Lord Mayor Dr John Mahony and councillors Ian Tuffin and Linda Bowyer.
Carole Burgoyne from Plymouth City Council said: "We are absolutely thrilled with the success of our first ever event to celebrate excellence in care in Plymouth – and we were overwhelmed with the interest shown by the local care sector and the public's nominations.
"The event aimed to celebrate and recognise all the fantastic work taking place across the care sector in Plymouth. We also shared stories of excellence and innovation from Plymouth residents at the event."
