The residents at Selkirk House care home in Plymstock have celebrated National Poetry Day today by writing a poem about their experiences at the home.

A Poem for Selkirk has been composed by residents Sandra, Ede, Doreen, Barbara and Doris with the help of Activities Coordinator Sylvia.

A Poem for Selkirk

Selkirk House is now my home
No more I sit all alone

Friends surround my single days
Activities in great array
Occupy and help me play

Stem the boredom of long hours
Dominoes and wild craft flowers

Films and fun for everyone
A garden breeze and warm soft sun

Wild birds in bath, wings spread
Tea and cake and buttered bread
A time for resting in our bed

Selkirk is the place for me
For I sleep with no worry
