Friends, families, residents and staff have raised £100 for the Alzheimer’s Society as part of Dementia Awareness Week.

Funds were raised through a coffee morning on Friday 19 May and a Cream Tea afternoon on 21  May at Anchor’s Selkirk House Care Home 74 Church Road Plymstock.

Activities Coordinator Chris Dawkins said: “I’d like to thank all those that came to the events and were so giving of their time and their kind donations.

“Special thanks to local musicians Tony Greko and Ian Brusby for sharing their vocal talents and acoustic music at the Cream Tea making it a truly wonderful event for the residents and guests.”

Chris added: “Just £40 will pay for five people living with dementia to attend a Singing for the Brain session. This is a fun activity that enhances wellbeing and connection through music. We at Selkirk House are very happy that we have raised enough for ten people to benefit from this activity. There will be another event on 15 June at 2:30 pm as part of the Anchor’s Community Calendar event in which we will see residents and staff of Selkirk House raising funds once again for the Alzheimer’s Society. This time it will be for Cupcake day, nationally Championed by Paul Hollywood from the Great British Bake Off. So please come along and add your support.”
