A Selby care home has won an award for being one of the most recommended care homes in North Yorkshire.
Anchor’s Firth House in Millgate ranked among the Top 20 care homes in the area from almost 2,000 in the regional competition.
The award is based on the care home’s recommendations from residents, as well as their friends and family.
Staff and residents from Firth House were celebrating the achievement this week but were not surprised the home had been recognised for its high quality care.
Care home name Manager Pearl Millin said everyone at the home was thrilled to receive the award.
She said: “This award means that Firth House has been formally recognised for how hard we work to make our residents happy.
“I am so pleased as this puts Firth House on the map and highlights the dedicated members of staff who work here.
“Older people have given so much to society during their long lives so we all work hard to ensure they enjoy living with us in a safe and comfortable home.”
Davina Ludlow, Director of carehome.co.uk which runs the awards, said: “We feel the best people to rate a care home are the residents and their families and friends. Their recommendations show that so many care homes are warm and inviting places to live where residents receive loving and compassionate care.
“Firth House has proved that it provides excellent care and we’d like to congratulate it on being a top recommended home in Yorkshire and the Humber region. It’s a wonderful achievement to be recognised for being a highly recommended home by the very people you care for.
“Looking for the right care home can be tough. We hope our awards will help to make people’s search that little bit easier.”
