On Saturday 2 July Ridgemount care home in Banstead held their annual Summer Fayre, this year with the theme of A Right Royal Street Party to continue the 90th celebration for Her Majesty’s birthday.
A representative of the Queen was invited to attend and so The Lord Lieutenant Michael More-Molyneux and his wife Sarah joined the residents for their festivities. The guests enjoyed a brief tour of the home before everybody gathered in the garden in preparation. The Lord Lieutenant brought greetings from Her Majesty and officially declared the fayre open.
After an opening prayer by Gerald Baines from Christchurch, residents and guests enjoyed a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem, performed by opera singer Jill McGuire and accompanying pianist Juliet Chaplin. The Lord Lieutenant then went on to crown the look-alike Queen Mother and the Queen, residents Sissy Middleton and Mary Sims, for the event.
Other entertainment included a performance from Just Smile Entertainment, which comprised of a grand entrance of Her Majesty and Entourage and a performance by Elvis and the Supremes, a dog show, Zumba dancers, and a variety of stalls, raffles and competitions.
The Summer Fayre is usually the largest annual fund-raising event the home holds for their amenities fund, which help to provide meaningful activities, outings, games and dementia-friendly resources for the customers. The home raised a fantastic £260 this year and they are looking forward to using the money to organise more enriching events for their residents.
