Residents at Gills Top care home in Grassington have spent the week baking and decorating a Christmas cake for a regional competition. Residents worked with staff on their cake which featured festive scenes including a snowman, Christmas tree and an igloo.

The competition is part of Anchors annual Christmas Cake competition which sees homes across Yorkshire competing to make it through the regional finals and onto the national stage.

Gills Top Manager Andrea Smith said; “The residents have really got involved this year and it’s been a real group effort. The staff have loved it as well and it’s helped everyone get into the Christmas spirit nice and early, hopefully we will see Gills Top progress through to the regional finals. We always have lots of events on during December so this has really kick started our festive celebrations."
