A dog from Enfield has been shortlisted for a Best Pet award. Tilly, 11, who lives at Anchor’s Felix Neubergh House in Seaford Road, was nominated by Gloria Tuffey for being a faithful furry friend.

Almost 300 nominations were sent in for the Happy Living Awards run by Anchor, England’s largest not-for-profit care and housing provider. The awards were launched in August with six categories: Green Fingered Customer, Best Neighbour, Extraordinary Talent, Grandparent of the Year, Community Champion and Best Pet.

Tilly is a “Pets as Therapy” dog, working with old people and children. In 2010 she came from Cyprus to Enfield, where her owner Gloria had lived for 37 years before.

Tilly’s owner Gloria said: “I am over the moon that Tilly is up for an award – she certainly brings happy living to me and my neighbours at Felix Neubergh House.

“Tilly is a great joy to everyone here – we all spoil her and she makes us laugh. We are so happy living here as everyone is so friendly and Tilly has a lovely garden to play in.”

A customer panel will be coming together later this month to judge those shortlisted, and winners of the six categories will be announced in December.
