A Bishopstoke care home has launched a summer spectacular of activities for its residents at the weekend.

Older people, their families and staff at Anchor’s Orchard Gardens Care Home spent weeks preparing for the summer fete on Saturday 8 July which marked the official launch of a summer of stimulating activities.

A performance from the Riverside Concert Band, a summer BBQ and a trip to Finkley Down Farm are some of the events of the activities programme which will culminate in a visit from the tropical creatures of ZooLab.

Orchard Gardens Manager Karen Handley said: “We have a full schedule of activities so that residents are offered both physical and mental stimulation.

“Everyone - staff, residents and families - have worked together to come up with fantastic events for summer.

“As well as continuing the favourite activities of arts and crafts, the chinwaggers club and outings, we will be launching several new activities for the residents, where they can socialise with their friends and families.”
