Norton House care home in Westminster yesterday held a dementia information day so members of the public could find out more about the condition.
Anchor’s Jo Bown, a Dementia Friend, held the talk for residents and members of the local community to give people a better understanding of dementia, look at the myths surrounding dementia and how to support someone who is living with the condition
Jo explained how person-centred care and one-on-one activities can enable people with the condition to still get the most out of life.
Jo said: “The number of people living with dementia is growing and Anchor is leading the way with training its staff so we can help older people live well with the condition.
“We want to provide information to the local community because many people are understandably worried about dementia.
“Anchor has contributed to the Government’s national dementia strategy and we think it’s important to share our knowledge and experience with people living in town name.”
