Norton House care home in London will be opening its doors to members of the local community this week as part of a nationwide celebration of the care sector.

Anchor’s Norton House care home in Arneway street will be participating in Care Home Open Day on Friday 16 June, along with thousands of care homes across the country.

Care Home Open Day is an annual event aimed at encouraging members of the public to see the high quality care in their local care homes.

This year Anchor is using Care Home Open Day to also mark the Great Get Together organised by Jo Cox Foundation’s to bring communities together. Labour MP Ms Cox, who was killed last year, rejected divisive politics and campaigned to bring different communities together.

Residents and staff at Norton house will be enjoying playing a quiz game with prizes, a cream tea with fresh baked cake and a sing along/music on request to mark the Care Home Open Day 2017

The occasion will also be a chance to celebrate the good work achieved by home’s staff in the past year.

Home Manager Felicia Imafidon said: “We hold a host of activities throughout the year to keep residents mentally and physically stimulated. Many of the events involve bringing the outside community into the home. Over the next few months, Norton House will be organising 8 days of social activities like music, drama, sport and fundraising with groups of young people from The Challenge UK charity organization.

“Care Home Open Day is part of this packed activities programme. We’re really proud of what we have achieved over the last year. We wanted to take this opportunity to celebrate the fantastic life our residents have here.”
