Residents from a Bradford care home were mixing with the stars at the official opening of their new cinema.

Older people living in Anchor’s Mill View Care home on Bolton Lane were watching their first movie after the official opening from Steve Huison who starred in the Full Monty and has also appeared regularly in Coronation Street as Eddie Windass.

Residents and staff had been working hard for weeks to get their cinema ready for the big day and had voted that the first film to be screened would be “The King and I”

Mill View Manager Tee Tatum said “Everyone was looking forward to the opening of the “View Cinema” here at Mill View; residents have been involved since day one with what the old lounge should be transformed into, what we should call the cinema, what films we should screen and how it should look and feel.  The Cinema is the second of our teams “Building a community” projects is their home after recently building and opening a general store here. It’s important to everyone here that Mill View is a home that provides not only meaningful person centred activity but also a lifestyle for our residents.

Tee added: “We’ve had some great conversations about favourite films and those special memories of trips to the cinema and how magical seeing the stars on the big screen was, and that’s the feeling we wanted to recreate”

Steve Huison joining us to open the cinema has also added to the air of excitement in the home.
