Residents at Mill View care home in Bradford have each received a beautiful red rose courtesy of a local branch of supermarket Morrisons to celebrate Valentine’s Day.

The wonderfully thoughtful gesture was made after the sister of Lisa Hawksworth, one of the homes’ care assistants, who works for the supermarket, mentioned to her manager and Morrison’s Community Charity and Marketing Manager, Joanne Doherty, that the home were planning a themed day for St Valentine’s Day.

Morrison’s surprised the home by sending red roses to each of the residents for free on 14 February 2018.

Care Home Manager Tee Tatum said: “It was an amazing reaction from the residents today when we presented them with the beautiful roses from Morrisons. We have had tears of joy, laughter and a lot of smiles.

“Receiving the roses prompted wonderfully engaging and meaningful conversations between residents over a cup of tea and cake, with people talking about years gone by and all of the wonderful times spent with loved ones on this special day.

“Building links with our local communities and local businesses enables us to work together to ensure our amazing residents continue to experience and enjoy special occasions throughout the year.

“Our residents and all the staff would like to say a huge thank you to Morrison’s for this wonderful and very gratefully received gesture.”
