A Yorkshire Terrier from Levenshulme in Manchester has been shortlisted for a Best Pet award. Poppy who lives at Anchor’s Moseley Court with her owner Doreen Thomas, 76 years old, was nominated by Caroline Tubb, Scheme Manager, for being a loving companion for Doreen.
Almost 300 nominations were sent in for the Happy Living Awards run by Anchor, England’s largest not-for-profit care and housing provider. The awards were launched in August with six categories: Green Fingered Customer, Best Neighbour, Extraordinary Talent, Grandparent of the Year, Community Champion and Best Pet.
Doreen, who has lived at Moseley Court for two years, said: “I’m in a studio flat and Poppy always keeps me company. I’ve recently purchased a scooter to get out more which means Poppy sits in the basket with me when I go shopping.”
Caroline Tubb, who says Poppy has brought people together at Moseley Court, said: “She is an extremely affectionate and well behaved dog. She sits on Doreen’s scooter when they go out.”
A customer panel have come together to judge those shortlisted, and winners of the six categories will be announced in January 2017.
