A resident from Whiston in Merseyside has been shortlisted for a Best Neighbour award. Grace Williamson, 58 years old, who lives at Anchor’s Bold Manor in Dragon Lane, was nominated by Karon Claeys, Team Manager, for always going the extra mile helping her neighbours.

Almost 300 nominations were received for the 2016 Happy Living Awards run by Anchor, England’s largest not-for-profit care and housing provider. The awards launched in September with six categories: Green-fingered Customer, Best Neighbour, Creative Champion, Grandparent of the Year, Community Champion and Best Pet.

Grace Williamson, who has lived at Bold Manor since November 2015, is overwhelmed and humbled to be shortlisted for the Best Neighbour Award. She said: “I do the things I do for the joy I receive when I contribute and make a difference to someone’s day.”

Karon Claeys, Bold Manor Team Manager, who nominated Grace, said: “Nothing is too much trouble for Grace when helping others. She has a large family of her own but chooses to provide a Christmas dinner to all the residents at Bold Manor who don’t have plans.”

A customer panel has come together to judge those shortlisted, and winners of the six categories will be announced in January 2017.
