A resident from Locks Heath in Southampton has been shortlisted for a Best Neighbour award. Rachel Blundell, 73 years old, who lives at Anchor’s The Chestnuts in Locks Road, was nominated by Kim Hunter, Team Manager, for always putting her neighbours needs before her own.

Almost 300 nominations were received for the 2016 Happy Living Awards run by Anchor, England’s largest not-for-profit care and housing provider. The awards launched in September with six categories: Green-fingered Customer, Best Neighbour, Creative Champion, Grandparent of the Year, Community Champion and Best Pet.

Rachel Blundell has lived at The Chestnuts for three years. She said: “I am overwhelmed to have been nominated!”

Kim Hunter, The Chestnuts Team Manager, who nominated Rachel, said: “Rachel is a very caring person and thinks of others all the time. She often holds dinner parties and buffet nights to get everyone together, bakes cakes for others and even has an allotment of fresh organic vegetables and fruit which she brings back to The Chestnuts to share with other residents.”

A customer panel has come together to judge those shortlisted, and winners of the six categories will be announced in January 2017.
