Anchor’s Kimberley Court care home in Newquay sponsored the ‘Carer of the Year’ award at the annual Cornish Local Heroes Awards held last Friday.
The awards, organised by Cornwall's Pirate FM, are designed to recognise those people who go the extra mile to help others in the Cornish community and who make a real difference in Cornwall.
The glitzy awards ceremony was held at The Eden Project and included special guest Kian Egan (former Westlife vocalist).
Lorraine Young, Hospitality Manager said: “We were very happy to sponsor the Carer of the Year award at the Pirate FM Local Heroes Awards. It’s like a mini Pride of Britain awards for Cornwall, Pirate FM are massive down here so we thought it would be a great opportunity for us.”
Linda Hynd, Business Manager said: “The event was held at the Eden project and it was a great venue. We are proud that we were able to support this award and really enjoyed chatting to the winner Linda.”
The Carer of the Year Award was won by Linda Oxley, who manages a small care home in Cornwall and was presented by Halina Morton, Care Manager at Anchor's other Cornish home - St. Anne’s in Saltash.
