Residents at Heathside care home in Woking have been getting to grips with exotic animals this week.

Corn snakes and giant African snails were among the unusual animals visiting the care home.

Resident Joyce Trace, 86, said before the visit “I’m looking forward to holding a snake for the first time in my life.

“I think it will be interesting seeing all the different animals.”

Hearthside’s Activities Co-ordinator Annamay Baldwin said the zoo visit had caused some excitement; “We have a ongoing programme of activities here and wanted to organise something different for our residents. This visit from the zoo was just the ticket and provided a great talking point across the home.”
