Heathside care home in Woking hosted a day of entertainment to mark Blue Monday, cheering up the local community on the most miserable day of the year.

Staff from Anchor’s Heathside in Coley Avenue hosted a day on Monday 26 January 2015 from 11am to 4pm. A Vintage swing and jazz singer joined residents and staff at Heathside from 2pm to entertain residents and family who came along to join in the fun.

Holy Manley Activities coordinator said "After all the festivity of December, January can be a little lonely and non-eventful so with this in mind we wanted everyone to come and join the fun at Heathside. Lunch was served downstairs and some family members came along to join us all, Molly a resident at Heathside said it was a nice day with lots of chatter and some lovely songs sung to us in the afternoon. “Our residents are lucky because our care home is like a little community, with many opportunities for older people and their families to socialise and have fun. Some of the recent social activities we have organised include Breakfast week commencing 26 January 2015, when family members can join us and choose from many different breakfast choices including pancakes and full English breakfast.  Valentines loved one’s lunch event.  We have Valentines Loved Ones lunch planned for Saturday 14 January when family can again join their loved ones at Heathside for lunch. And on Wednesday 18th February we are celebrating love your heart week when we will be having Bollywood performers in and a quest speaker to talk about keeping your heart healthy.

“Anchor realises that not all older people are as fortunate so we have fundraised and we hold tea parties for Contact the Elderly groups who help those older people who live with little or no social support which can lead to depression. We’ve got lots more fun afternoons and evening events planned – this is just the beginning!”
Home Manager Jagpal Singh said, there is always something happening at Heathside , and  customers enjoy it when the local community take part in our events. So we always welcome all visitors with open arms.
