An English Springer Spaniel from Abbots Langley in Hertfordshire has been shortlisted for a Best Pet award. Archie, who lives at Anchor’s The Grange with his owner Richard Ford, 76 years old, was nominated by fellow residents for the big impact he’s had on all their lives.
Almost 300 nominations were sent in for the Happy Living Awards run by Anchor, England’s largest not-for-profit care and housing provider. The awards were launched in August with six categories: Green Fingered Customer, Best Neighbour, Extraordinary Talent, Grandparent of the Year, Community Champion and Best Pet.
Richard Ford, who has lived at The Grange for two years, said: “I am proud of the fact that everybody at The Grange loves Archie.”
Mrs Bluff, who also lives at The Grange and was one of the residents who nominated Archie, said: “Archie is a wonderful pet. We all miss our pets and he makes up for it. All the residents love him.”
A customer panel have come together to judge those shortlisted, and winners of the six categories will be announced in January 2017.
