Anchor’s Elizabeth Court care home in Caterham has held a free talk explaining the implications of The Care Act 2014.

The event, entitled “The Care Act: How it affects you”, took place on Saturday 21 March and aimed to help people confused by the new legislation.

The Care Act 2014 will mean radical changes to how care is delivered and funded in England. The Care Act and related reforms to the adult social care system are likely to affect many adults with a care need.

Expert Nicky Cave from Eldercare Solutions talked to residents and attendees about the complexities of care fees planning and the impact of new legislation.

Muriel Gibbons, Elizabeth Court’s Hospitality Manager said: “The presentation that Nicky gave at our event was fantastic. A number of attendees commented that Nicky made this complicated subject interesting, clear and much easier to understand.

“This is an important subject that people need to understand as it has far reaching implications. The attendees all mentioned that this event helped them better understand how they may be affected and we hope to hold more talks like this in the future at Elizabeth Court.”

Guests also enjoyed afternoon tea and cakes, and after the presentation Nicky very kindly had individual conversations with people who wished to discuss their personal situation.

Anchor has also published a free downloadable guide to The Care Act which you can download here.
