The Deputy Mayor of Eastleigh, Councillor Des Scott, has officially opened Orchard Gardens, a new residential care home in the grounds of Bishopstoke Park retirement village.

Cllr Scott enjoyed a guided tour of the new home with members of the care team, before raising a glass to Orchard Gardens and cutting the ribbon to declare the care home officially open.

The Deputy Mayor was then joined by Harry Symons, one of the first residents at Orchard Gardens care home, and Anchor staff to cut a slice of celebratory cake.

Over 100 guests mingled at the new home, which is part of Anchor, England’s largest not-for-profit provider of housing and care to older people.

Speaking at the event, the Deputy Mayor of Eastleigh, Councillor Des Scott, said: “It’s a pleasure to open Orchard Gardens today and well done to all involved in getting the home ready for its first residents.

“Having given planning permissions for Orchard Gardens care home, within Bishopstoke Park retirement village, I am delighted to see the transformation into this wonderful new development.”

Care home manager Pauline Forbes commented: “We are all excited to be opening Orchard Gardens this afternoon – I look forward to welcoming visitors and residents alike to our beautiful new home in the coming weeks.”
