Older people at Eastlake care home in Godalming came together to support the British Heart Foundation for love your heart month.
The staff and residents at Eastlake on Nightingale Road came together on a Sunday afternoon to talk about the importance of looking after your heart.
Head chef Graham Morley gave a talk on the importance of a well-balanced diet. Graham explained that Anchor encourages and promotes a well-balanced diet, through choice and variety. The residents talked to Graham about which foods are better for them.
After the talk Graham did a food quiz on which foods the residents thought were the healthiest. This encouraged discussion amongst the residents about healthy eating. Everyone was handed out fresh fruit and a choice of different sugar free drinks.
Our residents wanted to raise money for the British Heart Foundation so they made and decorated cakes, which they sold for donations. Together they raised £15.50 that afternoon.
Graham Morley will be supporting the British Heart Foundation and Eastlake through a sponsored bike ride. On the 29 March he will be riding his bike 42 miles from London. Staff and residents would like to wish him all the best.
