Manor Court care home received a special visit from Lorna Coulson, a social worker and counsellor specialised in therapies for older people with mental health issues, and facilitator of drumming sessions for wellbeing based on Celtic and Canadian First Nations cultures.
Lorna came to the home carrying her 10 ceremonial handmade drums which she shared with the residents, following a brief conversation about Earth Day and our connection with the planet.
The residents created their own chants with Lorna to honour each person present and the different elements of nature that they liked, for then to singing together while playing the drums.
Activities Coordinator Laura said “It was great to see a real connection between the residents and Lorna, while attuning ourselves to beautiful chants and the rhythm of the drums.”
