In the lead up to International Older Peoples Week, staff and tenants at St Cuthberts Court in Carlisle dedicated their time last week to a coast to coast bike ride in support of Macmillan nurses.
Last year Charles and Brenda Wimbledon raised over £350 for the charity with a local collection at Carlisle train station and a 90 mile cycle to the west coast of Cumbria and back. The event was so successful that St Cuthberts Court decided to do it again.
This year the cyclists took to an exercise bike with the target of covering the equivalent of riding the Cumbria Coast to Coast Cycle route. The participants all contributed tremendous time and effort to ride a grand total of 577 miles, the equivalent of four Coast to Coast circuits.
At first count the 2015 riders, made up of Stuart Handler, Jim Potts, Manager Bob Wickings, Charles Wimbledon and Raymond Robinson have raised £482.77 for the Macmillan charity.
