Staff and residents at Palmersdene care home in Jarrow are inviting five elderly people to join in their Christmas Day celebrations.
Home Manager Maureen Kane said “some older people don’t have children and have no one to spend Christmas with, and I can’t bear the thought of anyone being alone – I wouldn’t like it if it was my mum.
“We always try to go all out at Christmas for our residents, because some of them don’t have anyone else and we are their family."
The guests will join everyone at Palmersdene for Christmas lunch, take part in the festive activities including games and sing-alongs, and then be taken home when they are ready, all free of charge. The five visitors are even welcome to spend the night at the home if any spare beds are available.
“We’ll pick them up in a taxi on the morning and they can spend all day with us and hopefully have a lovely time.” Maureen added.
If you or someone you know would like to join Palmersdene residents on Christmas Day please call Maureen on 0191 428 0660.
Places are limited and will be filled on a first-come-first-serve basis, so please call as soon as possible.
