Aylesbury children and charity volunteers joined Buckingham Lodge care home residents to make bird and bug boxes for their garden.

Anchor’s Buckingham Lodge care home in Buckingham Park welcomed children from the Cubs and Beavers, as well as PCSOs and volunteers from local charity Men in Sheds, to make bird and bug boxes.

Wendy Luck, home manager, said: “It’s always lovely to have visitors – including wild creatures, so it was great to make these lovely boxes and encourage wildlife into our garden.

“One resident, John, especially liked painting with the children and making the boxes in really bright colours. He also made seed balls to hang up round the garden for birds.

“Community events like this are always popular with our residents, especially when children are involved. The Cubs and Beavers enjoyed making cakes and colouring in pictures of birds, followed by homemade soup and a roll. We hope to see them again soon.”

Buckingham Lodge provides 24 hour residential care for older people, as well as specialist dementia care for those who require it.  The home also offers respite stays.
