Residents and staff at Orchard Gardens care home in Bishopstoke recently celebrated International Older People's Day with an afternoon tea party.
Staff from Orchard Gardens care home were keen to demonstrate the contribution that older people make to the local community and therefore decided to take part in this international event of celebration.
Orchard Gardens manager, Tracy Hibberd said: "We know the older people we work with had and continue to have a positive impact on community life in Bishopstoke. We were therefore keen to mark International Older People's Day which is a celebration of the achievements and contributions that older people make to society."
Hibberd continued: "Activities are a major part of life at Orchard Gardens because it helps stimulate our residents both mentally and physically and, of course, it's fun!
"So to mark this day we wanted to organise a range of special activities. These add to our already packed autumn programme which includes a visit from Zoolab, a Halloween party and an open day - all happening in October."
Residents enjoyed a delicious cream tea prepared by the chef, took part in a singalong and took part in a music themed quiz.
