Heathside care home was visited by students from the Park School in Onslow Crescent who sang carols to residents. The Christmas lights were also turned on.

To thank the school children, the care home residents gave them shortbread biscuits which they had baked. Doris Bateman, 89, who has lived at Heathside for a number of years, said: 'The carol service is such a special event. Everyone really enjoyed it'.

Alec Watts, 84, said he thoroughly enjoyed the children's carol singing, adding: 'It made me smile, especially when they were singing 'The Twelve Days of Christmas'.

Home Manager, Jagpal Singh said: 'There is always something different going on daily at Heathside, our residents thoroughly enjoyed the school visit. It's great to have such close ties with the school'
