A care home in Hipperholme opened its doors to members of the local community as part of a nationwide celebration of the care sector.

Anchor’s Sandholme Fold care home on Sandholme Crescent participated in Care Home Open Day on Friday 17 June, along with thousands of care homes across the country.

Care Home Open Day is an annual event aimed at encouraging members of the public to see the high quality care in their local care homes.

Residents and staff at Sandholme Fold were entertained by Flashbacks Brass Band to mark the Care Homes Open Day. The customers enjoyed having the local community Brass Band to entertain for the afternoon.

The occasion was also a chance to celebrate the good work achieved by the home’s staff in the past year.

Home Manager Rachel Riding said: “We hold a host of activities throughout the year to keep residents mentally and physically stimulated. Many of the events involve bringing the outside community into the home. Over the next few months, Sandholme Fold will be organising a trip to Haworth on the steam train, visit to Shibden Park and Holiday at home with our community church with activities throughout the week for all customers.

“Care Home Open Day is part of this packed activities programme. We’re really proud of what we have achieved over the last year. We wanted to take this opportunity to celebrate the fantastic life our residents have here.”
