A care home in Otley opened its doors to members of the local community last week as part of a nationwide celebration of the care sector.
Anchor’s Teal Beck House care home in Teal Beck Approach participated in Care Home Open Day on Friday 17 June, along with thousands of care homes across the country.
Care Home Open Day is an annual event aimed at encouraging members of the public to see the high quality care in their local care homes.
Residents at Teal beck house have written a book with stories from the activity literary game they play. We decided to sell these books on the day and the proceeds of the sales go to the Residents fund. We would like to say thank you to everyone who came along, including the Mayor of Otley Ian Jackson, Deputy Mayor Nigel Francis and Councillor Sandy Lay.
The occasion was also a chance to celebrate the good work achieved by the home’s staff in the past year.
Activity Co- ordinator Jayne Skilbeck said: “We hold a host of activities throughout the year to keep residents mentally and physically stimulated. Many of the events involve bringing the outside community into the home. Over the next few months, Teal Beck house will be organising a street party, a ‘tea dance for two left feet’ day and a trip to the theatre.
“Care Home Open Day is part of this packed activities programme. We’re really proud of what we have achieved over the last year. We wanted to take this opportunity to celebrate the fantastic life our residents have here.”
