Residents from a care home in Ripon have been on an exciting train journey across the UK.

Staff at Anchor’s Borrage House Care Home in Borrage Lane, organised a virtual versus reality train ride experience to take Residents to York, where they visited  York Railway Museum, and shared memories of York. The Residents took the train from the Museum into York to see the Minster. A typical railway station lunch of sandwiches and tea was enjoyed in the platform café within the museum.

Residents have been painting trains in memory of their trip to York. Jean Walker, who has lived at Borrage House for a number of years, was excited to return to York where she has spent many happy moments.

Jean said: “I’m so pleased the staff have organised this train ride, it was such a lovely day out, bringing back happy memories.”

But the journey didn’t stop there, Residents stopped off at several other destinations during the last 6 months, including Wensleydale, where Residents took part in cheese tasting, and Whitby, where Residents had fish and chips in the paper for lunch, and miniature horses visited the home followed by a ‘Hi de Hi Show’.

The virtual journey took part in Anchor care homes throughout England and reached its final destination in October.
