Care home gives Peckham a taste of its winter warmers

Residents from Anchor’s Waterside care home in London organised a Food Tasting event to launch their new Winter menu this week.

Local people as well as friends of residents and staff were invited to come along and sample a great selection of new and traditional dishes.

Manager, Jeremy Burrows, said they wanted to demonstrate the superb, freshly prepared meals served in the care home.

He said: “Food is an important part in our residents’ lives. I’m proud of our catering team who ensure the high standards of meals they produce from scratch, using fresh seasonal ingredients, whether it’s British favourites or more exotic dishes.

“Getting residents involved in activities, such as the “Winter Warmers” food tasting, is an enjoyable way to keep them physically and mentally active. It’s also a chance for residents, their friends and relatives to provide feedback on the new menus we introduce.”

Anchor’s Catering Operations Manager Richard Herne said: “Anchor’s catering teams have received many accolades for improving food standards and for involving residents in decisions on menus. We like to encourage participation from our residents in our activities.”
