Staff and residents at Mill View care home in Bradford are inviting five elderly people to join in their Christmas Day celebrations.
Home Manager Tee Tatum said “Some older people don’t have children and have no one to spend Christmas with, and I can’t bear the thought of anyone being alone – I wouldn’t like it if it was my mum.
“We always try to go all out at Christmas for our residents, because some of them don’t have anyone else and we are their family."
The guests will join everyone at Mill View for Christmas lunch, take part in the festive activities including games and sing-alongs, and then be taken home when they are ready, all free of charge. The four visitors are even welcome to spend the night at the home if any spare beds are available.
“We’ll pick them up in a taxi on the morning and they can spend all day with us and hopefully have a lovely time.” Tee added.
Community Partnership Manager David Wood said “Last Christmas with the John Lewis Man on the moon advert and Age UK’s No one should have no one at Christmas campaign the problem of isolation was highlighted, we’d like to continue doing what we can to make a difference to older people over the festive period who are feeling lonely at what can be a very difficult time of year”
If you or someone you know would like to join Mill View residents on Christmas Day please call Manager Tee Tatum on 0113 2499170.
Places are limited and will be filled on a first-come-first-serve basis, so please call as soon as possible.
