Staff and residents from Bethune Court care home in St. Leonards on Sea have enjoyed a day trip to see the steam trains at Tenterden station.

The outing on Friday 2 September was a chance for the group to see the steam trains which run from Tenterden to Bodium.

Activities Coordinator Sarah Gould said everybody had a fabulous afternoon.

“We arrived at Tenterden station at about 2.30pm and were greeted by a lovely lady who showed us to our reserved tables in the station café, which is beautifully set within an old railway building.

“We all had tea or coffee and scones, jam and cream and enjoyed looking out at the old railway carriages, which reminded us all of those that were pulled by the Orient Express.

“Everyone was so pleased to have the pleasure of watching – and hearing a real steam train puffing in to the station, it really delighted many of the residents who gave it a round of applause!”
