The Big Knit is a joint campaign between Age UK and Innocent drinks to help vulnerable older people. You knit the hats, innocent drinks wear them and 25p of every drink sold will go to Age UK.
The residents at Berry Court, an Anchor retirement estate in Hook, Hampshire have come together to help raise money for Age UK by taking part in the Big Knit. Every week a group of residents get together in the communal lounge to have a knit and a natter whilst supporting charities in the process.
Residents have taken part in the big knit in previous years and have decided to take part again this year knitting a total of 73 little hats. Berry Court is a retirement estate for the over 60’s so Age UK is a charity that can offer support or advice to residents. The money raised through the Big Knit supports the Spread the Warmth campaign, helping older people during the cold winter months through befriending visits, emergency cold weather support, warm meals and other vital services
