On Thursday 22 September, HRH Princess Alexandra, Patron of Anchor, was welcomed by residents and staff to Anchor’s Augusta Court care home in Chichester, as part of their 25th anniversary celebrations.

Her Royal Highness, was given a tour of the home, including the cinema room and café. Her Royal Highness also became the first customer at the home’s new corner shop, before greeting residents in the main lounge area of the home.

High Sheriff of West Sussex, Mark Spofforth, Chairman of West Sussex County Council, Patricia Arculus and the residents’ families were all in attendance.

The home’s chef, David Oakley, prepared a delicious ‘best of British’ buffet for everyone to enjoy throughout the afternoon, before Her Royal Highness was invited to cut a celebratory cake and sign the home’s guestbook. Her Royal Highness even took a slice of cake home with her.

Augusta Court Manager, Samantha Kewell, said: “We were thrilled to have this very special opportunity to welcome Her Royal Highness into our home and show her what makes Augusta Court so special. The residents have been really looking forward to the visit, especially Marie Hayward had the opportunity presenting Her Royal Highness with a posy.”
