Staff and residents of Augusta Court in Chichester care home were excited to hold a grand opening for a brand new sensory garden on 12 September.
The new garden provides a stimulating but peaceful environment for residents and was made possible through a combination of Anchor’s Legacy fund and generous donations including money from the Chichester Lions Club.
A team worked hard to clear the rockery and grounds before planting an array of new plants. The Augusta Court handyman dedicated time to making new benches and decking the whole area to create a space that can be enjoyed by wheelchair users. Residents made decorative butterflies and helped plant flowers in special raised beds.
Richard Hall, president of the Chichester Lions Club was honoured to cut the ribbon opening the garden, and visitors enjoyed a raffle and refreshments to celebrate the new garden.
