Tenants from Browhead Court, Burnley, one of Anchor’s Housing locations for the over 55s raised £428.00 for charity by holding their annual Animal Magic Raffle. There were over 25 soft toys on offer and three mystery prizes, which included a luxury hamper. The soft toys had been collected over the last 12 months and included donations from family friends. The money raised will be divided this year between two charities, Alzheimer’s Research and The North West Air Ambulance, both excellent causes.
The event at Browhead Court in Shackleton Street, Burnley was a huge success. The tenants held an afternoon tea which consisted of a variety of sandwiches and a fantastic array of cakes. The tenants hold a couple of charity events every year with monies raised going to different causes.
Andrea Holt, the manager at Browhead Court said, “The tenants wanted to raise money for charity and decided to divide the money raised between two organisations. The tenants have worked very hard throughout the year to make this year’s event a success and also enjoyed the social aspects of the afternoon tea.”
Tenants Maureen Booth and Ann Hutchinson who live at Browhead Court have co- organised the event by collecting the soft toys and selling raffle tickets over the last few months. They said, “We like getting involved in scheme activities, this is the third year now raising money in this way. We wanted to make it our best event to date as we are raising money for such worthwhile charities.”
