Anchor win Energy Buyer of the Year award
Anchor’s Energy Team has picked up the prize for Energy Buyer of the Year at the annual Energy Awards this week.
The prestigious award recognises Anchor’s success at devising and implementing a purchasing strategy that has enabled us to achieve substantial savings for our customers on their gas and electricity bills.
Now in its 2nd year, The Energy Awards recognise and reward both supply and demand-side excellence within the energy sector, and acknowledge achievement in carbon reduction and energy efficiency, energy supply, brokering as well as products and services.
Kirstie Johnson, Anchor’s Head of Energy Management, said: “With 1,600 electricity and 800 gas meters at our locations, buying gas and electricity for Anchor is a continuous challenge, but we’ve investigated all the different purchasing options available and through this process we’ve been able to buy gas and electricity at rates substantially lower rates than those quoted by the Office of National Statistics – equating to an average saving during 2011 of £146.40 per customer.
“We are stunned and thrilled to win this prestigious award, especially as the judges are some of the most respected people in the Energy Industry. Whilst we can’t get around the fact energy costs are increasing, this award shows the world that Anchor will do everything we can to reduce the impact on our customers.’
Tim McManan-Smith, Editor of Water, Energy & Environment, commented: “The Energy Awards 2012 are where the energy industry recognises its undoubted achievements and provides inspiration to what can be obtained if we intelligently manage energy use. They are one small step towards communicating the truly great things that are going on the energy industry that can ultimately aid consumers in running their businesses.”
Congratulations to the Anchor Energy Team on this prestigious award and for demonstrating that Anchor are leading the way in the Energy industry!
