Anchor care homes open their doors for National Care Home Open Day
Anchor care homes across the country took part in National Care Home Open Day on Friday 21 June 2013 to challenge perceptions of care homes and show members of the public what great places they can be.
Sue Burke, Activities Co-ordinator at Sandholme Fold in Halifax, West Yorkshire said: “National Care Home Open Day has been a fantastic opportunity to show why we are so proud to work in the care sector.
“There is always plenty happening at Sandholme Fold, but we invited lots of local people and community groups to come and see for themselves – and arranged free transport for those who wanted to come but couldn’t do it under their own steam.”
June Joffrey, Business Manager at Silk Court in Bethnal Green, London said: “
“At Anchor we know that everyone is different and enjoy different things, so we always organise a varied programme of meaningful activity.
“National Care Home Open Day was no different; we put on a BBQ, zumba classes, sing-alongs, pamper sessions and arranged a special visit from City Farm with their animals. There really was something for everyone!”
