Anchor’s care homes have been given the thumbs-up from residents in the results of a major national survey published today (Monday 9 February 2015).

More than 21,000 residents at 1,034 care homes took part in the Your Care Rating poll carried out last autumn, with Anchor’s care homes as a whole being rated above the national average.

Residents were asked questions about the care they received, access to home comforts, quality of life and personal choice – and their scores topped those achieved in the 2014 survey.

The average Your Care Rating score across England was 872 points out of a possible 1,000 - and Anchor care homes have dramatically exceeded this benchmark. For example, Normanby House scored 975, Heybury House scored 960 and Millfield scored 956.

Anchor’s Chief Executive, Jane Ashcroft, said: “I’m really proud that our overall performance is not only above the average for the care sector for the second year running, but that we’ve improved on last year’s results.

“By listening to our residents, we’re providing high quality, person-centred care delivered by skilled and dedicated colleagues – something that the survey tells us is clearly valued.

“And by publishing the rating and report at each home and online, we’re showing we are confident in what we do, always looking to learn, and encouraging potential customers and their families to see our commitment to happy living.”

All of this year’s survey results for every care home surveyed are displayed on the Your Care Rating website. The website also shows how homes that took part in the survey last year performed. All of this helps families who are choosing a care home for a loved one by giving them vital information on what the residents actually think of each home and the standard of care.

The survey was compiled by leading research company Ipsos MORI with input from the care home operators taking part, plus the National Care Forum and Care England. This means the survey is the most authoritative of its type, and is also the country’s largest, capturing more views of residents than any other.

Your Care Rating is an independent organisation established in 2011 by 13 care sector providers, including Anchor. This is the second year that results for individual homes have been published.
