Staff, family and friends from Woodland Grove care home in Bath took part in a 6 mile sponsored walk on Sunday 16 March 2014 to raise money for the Woodland Grove amenity fund.
The walk was the idea of Lesley Lewis, home administrator, and Amy Thompson- Eames, activities coordinator. The group completed the walk in less than 3 hours.
Amy said that she was looking forward to the event but was a bit worried as she had not done much training for the event. She said: “The walk will mean serious exercise if we are to cover 6 miles in under 3 hours!”
Maureen Durbin, care manager, said: “We’re all doing this because it’s a worthwhile cause.”
Lesley Lewis, home administrator said: “It really will be a team effort and walking all together will mean that we help push each other on if one of us starts to flag.”
Adrian Cole, home manager said: “I’d like to thank my great team of staff, family and friends who took part and also all those who sponsored us. To date we have raised over £600.00.”
The money raised will help fund trips out to local parks, shows and extra special entertainment in the care home for the residents.
