A tenant from Farnborough has been shortlisted for a Community Champion award. Mark Goodrich, 65 years old, who lives at Anchor’s St Clements Court in Meadow Road, was nominated by Robert Podmore, Scheme Manager, for always going the extra mile and helping his community.

Almost 300 nominations were sent in for the Happy Living Awards run by Anchor, England’s largest not-for-profit care and housing provider. The awards were launched in August with six categories: Green Fingered Customer, Best Neighbour, Creative Champion, Grandparent of the Year, Community Champion and Best Pet.

Mark Goodrich, who has lived at St Clements Court for three years, is thrilled to be shortlisted for the Community Champion Award. He said: “I am over the moon to be nominated and very surprised!”

Robert, St Clements Court Scheme Manager, who appreciates the difference Mark makes to their community, said: “Mark is a true spirited neighbour. He utilises his carpentry skills and is always available to assist residents. Most recently, Mark made two large waste level planter boxes from old fencing wood. These planters have given residents who are less able to pot plants at ground level, the chance to contribute to the location’s floral arrangements. All this work has been done in his own time and between his voluntary role helping adults with learning difficulties”

A customer panel has come together to judge those shortlisted, and winners of the six categories will be announced in January 2017.
