The Anchor Community Band came together to produce a charity single that celebrates the positive aspects of ageing and challenges stereotypes and misconceptions in a fun and inclusive way.
We worked with people over the age of 55 from across the UK to write a song that was recorded by more than 350 older people living in our care homes and retirement housing properties across England.
Music is a powerful medium which brings people together and we wanted to write a song based on real life experiences, lifetime achievements, challenges overcome as well as older peoples’ aspirations for the future. Together we have created a record that highlights the wealth of talents older people have and hopefully, will become synonymous with the benefits of age!
The single was released on the Grey Pride label and had a great success reaching number 17 in the Indie charts and number one in the Amazon singles chart. All the money raised from sales of the single went towards Contact the Elderly, a national charity which aims to combat loneliness and isolation faced by older people who live alone.
