Winter weather is on its way - so it's been great to hear some heart-warming news this week.
I read a lovely letter of appreciation from a tenant at St Clements Court in Kettering who wrote to say that her experience of moving to a studio flat was ‘second to none’, and added that Scheme Manager Rebecca Bradley had made the process so smooth that ‘after only two weeks of living in my new home, I’m already settled, lovely and warm and safe.’
It’s also great to see colleagues winning awards for the quality of our services. Fingers crossed for this weekend where there are three awards ceremonies with Anchor colleagues in the running: The Great East Midlands Care Awards, The Great North East Care Awards and the Surrey Care Awards. Good luck to all our finalists!
Staying on the winter theme, we’ve published an excellent guide on our website on getting ready for winter. It’s useful in building links with commissioners and please share the tips with customers.
We’ve also seen 1,200 colleagues apply for our free flu vaccinations to keep themselves and our customers free from the virus. There still time to apply before 30 November .
And, of course, no sooner have we finished our Strictly Dancing competition – you can see a great video of the final here – than Christmas is just around the corner. Customers are again getting involved in our Christmas Cake competition and judging of the best-decorated cake is underway.
Partnership working is also something we’re doing at the national level here at Anchor. Last week I was in Whitehall for a round-table meeting with the Care Minister to press the case for a commissioner and a minister for older people.
Let’s hope for a flurry of activity on that front over the winter months!
