My husband and I took a special holiday this year on a Mediterranean cruise to celebrate a special birthday and a very special wedding anniversary.
We were travelling on a large cruise ship with over 4000 passengers on board, and were amazed by the range of things to do and different people to meet.
One night we chose to sit on a table for six people at the late dinner sitting and got chatting to the two couples alongside us. One pair were from Wales, the other from Essex, and as my husband and I live in the North East, we all soon found ourselves sharing stories about our respective parts of the country.
During the evening I mentioned where I worked, as Scheme Manager at Anchor’s Parkside Court retirement housing scheme in Thornaby, and to my surprise the couple from Essex, Linda and Tony McCloud, happily told me they were Anchor customers, living in Douglas Matthew House in Brentwood.
How’s that for a chance meeting?
We spent time with Linda and Tony throughout the rest of the cruise, the pair were great company and we all got on really well. Our shared connection really broke the ice and both my husband and I were very pleased to have met such friendly people to share some memorable times with in some beautiful places.
The picture above is of Linda and Tony McCloud with me on the right outside the beautiful Il Duomo in Florence.
We keep in touch with Linda and Tony by email and you never know, perhaps we may meet again hopefully.
