Life in a retirement village can be as jam-packed or laid-back as you like.

One retirement village will offer a different level of services and facilities to another. Some villages may simply provide retirement housing and access to a communal area, while others, like Anchor’s newest retirement villages Bishopstoke Park and Hampshire Lakes, are situated in rural village developments and have their own swimming pool, leisure amenities, shops and restaurants, as well as the option of at-home. Residents living in these villages have access to all the on-site facilities seven days a week.

Similarly, Anchor’s popular Denham Garden Village, which is located in South Buckinghamshire, offers a broad range of facilities and 24-hour care is available if you need it. It has a beautiful rural backdrop and is within easy reach of London.

Many retirement villages have an Events Manager who will help organise regular functions for village residents. These may be regular activities like fitness classes, or themed nights at an on-site restaurant, as well as special events around seasonal times like Easter or Christmas. There’s really no need to change your usual activities or routines; families and friends often come to stay in the village, and many villages are situated within easy reach of a town’s shops or restaurants, so you can be as active outside of the community as within.
