We’re here to help and look forward to giving you a warm welcome.

At Thistledale, we provide residential care for 28 older people who are frail, have physical disabilities, moderate dementia and some mental health needs. Staff are on hand 24-hours a day to provide care and support.

Set in a central location and in its own attractive grounds, Thistledale is close to the local shops, pubs, social club, library, churches, and post office. Most rooms have views of the well-kept gardens parkland.

• Single en-suite rooms with WC and washbasin

• Telephone point in each room for your own direct line

• Television point and connections for satellite and digital TV

• Call bells in each room providing 24 hour help

• Rooms decorated to high standard

• We encourage personal items to be brought in to enhance your room

• Guest room is available for your friends or relatives

• Main lounge with TV, music and mini bar

• Quiet areas for reading and relaxing

• Tea-making facilities are available where you and your visitors can make drinks

• Bathrooms specially equipped so you can relax in a comfort,

• Lift to upper floor

Dining

• Choice of healthy and nutritious meals and any special dietary requirements are catered for

• Breakfast and Supper are served either in the lounge or can be enjoyed in your room

• Unlike other care homes, there is no need to order food in advance

• Newspapers can be delivered to your room

• Thistledale has very pleasant gardens with patio and area to sit out in summer

• Stimulating and wide-ranging activities are organised at our home each week

• A GP is available on request and there are 6 local surgeries

• Our Hairdresser and visits weekly

• Town centre of Sunderland is 1/mile away

• Close to excellent bus routes to Sunderland and a short care ride to the seaside
